Menu – MS Word has a total of 10 Menus like –

File Menu: File Menu is the first menu of the menu bar which contains the options related to the file like-
  • New
  • Open
  • Close
  • Save
  • Save as
  • Save as Web Page
  • File Search
  • Permission
  • Page Set Up
  • Print Preview
  • Print
  • Send to
  • Exit



New:  This option is used to bring in a new document.

Open: This option is used to open old files or already open files. |


Close: This option is used to close the MS Word window.

Save: This option is used to protect the current file.

Save as:  This option is used to save the saved file to another drive by another name.

File Search: This option is used to search the file.

Page Set up: This option is used to set the page, i.e. Page Size, Margin, Orientation etc.

Print Preview: This option is used to view the page before it is printed. That is to see the preview of the page.


Print:  This option is used to print the prepared page.

Exit:  This option is used to come out of MS Word.

Edit Menu:
 This is the second menu of the menu bar which has options related to Editing. Alt + E is the shortcut key to open it.

1. Undo: - This option is used to cancel the work done by the user. Its shortcut key is Ctrl + Z.

2. Redo:  This option is used after Undo. This means who has undo. It can be brought back again. Its shortcut key is Ctrl + Y.

3. Cut: The selected matter is cut from it. On cutting, the select matter is removed from there. It gets cut and goes into the clipboard. And paste it into the document. Its Shortcut key is Ctrl + X, it can be cut by clicking on the cut button of the standard bar. It can also be cut by right clicking.

4. Copy: The selected matter is copied from it. It is copied and goes into the clipboard. And paste it into the document. Its shortcut key is Ctrl + C, it can be copied by clicking the copy button of the standard bar, it can also be copied by right clicking.

5. Paste: With the help of this option, the cut or copied matter is pasted. Its shortcut key is ctrl + V. The paste is also done with the help of a standard tool bar. Or paste by clicking right.
